Exploring Off-Road Capabilities with Ducati and BMW Adventure Bikes

Adventure riding involves exploring nifty mountain tracks or long-stretched highways in a refined and engaging way. It offers an exciting blend of on-road and off-road experiences made possible by adventure bikes. There are several adventure bikes in the market with different features, but this article explores the off-road capabilities that Ducati and BMW adventure bikes offer, focusing on models that top ADV riding.

BMW R 1250 GS

This is one of the best adventure bike brands released in 2019 and later updated in 2023. With a 1254cc boxer-twin engine capacity that delivers incredible horsepower, a power torque of 134 bhp, and a seat height of 890 mm, the BMW 1250 GS is one of the rider's favourite adventure bikes. The GS also provides a large fuel tank, adjustable ride modes, and other advanced features like cornering ABS and traction control, which are great for off-road riding.

While the GS remains an icon in adventure bikes, the KTM 1290 Super Adventure R is giving BMW a run for its money. This behemoth of a bike has a larger tank, semi-active suspension, and a comfortable riding position.

BMW R 1200 GS LC

The 2013 BMW R 1200 GS is a strong competitor of the KTM LC. With 123 horsepower, cornering ABS, and enhanced ergonomics, the BMW R 1200 GS is known for its off-road prowess. The R 1200 GS has gone through several upgrades, and it is updated with more electronics, including continuous adjustments to make it more stylish.

BMW F 850 GS Adventure

With the adventure bike market booming, BMW updated its F 800 series to the F 850 with advanced features. The bike has a crankpin engine, giving it power delivery and sounding like a V-twin. Its great comfort and practicality, combined with faultless handling capabilities, make the BMW F 850 an excellent off-road adventure motorcycle. It also offers adventure riders sufficient ground clearance to handle off-road obstacles.

Ducati Multistrada

It's impossible to talk about adventure bikes like KTM and BMW GS without mentioning the Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro. The Enduro has a refined sports design that features a 30-litre tank with a streamlined tail section.

The Multistrada version is known for capable, highly versatile, and high-performance motorcycles designed for both on-road and off-road riding. The Ducati DesertX and Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally mark the Italian Ducati's adventure bike segment.

The V4 has a V-twin engine delivering 170 horsepower, which is best for travelling long distances on off-road routes. Its advanced electronics and adjustable ride modes make the Multistrada V4 ideal for those seeking adventure bikes. If you are riding on rough terrain and navigating ruts, then you should consider DesertX. Designed with long-travel suspension and spoked wheels, DesertX offers both performance and style.

Other Adventure Bikes that Offer Off-Road Capabilities

Besides BMW and Ducati ADV bikes, there are other adventure bikes designed to offer off-road experiences, including the Honda Africa Twin. This bike has enhanced off-road capabilities, including dual-sport tires, adjustable front suspension, cornering ABS, traction control, user modes, and the option to turn the rear wheel ABS off.

The Yamaha Tenere 700 is another celebrated adventure bike due to its simplicity, excellent fuel economy, and ability to handle diverse terrains. Suzuki V-Strom, Triumph Tiger 1200, and Tiger 900 are also super cool bikes for off-road riding.
